Best Face Washing Tips to Clear Up Acne

Let's face it - you are told a few hundred times that washing your face a dozen times per day will speed up the recovery process of your skin and remove acne for sure. Is this a good advice? No!!!

If you are washing your face for more than 3 times per day, then you are making a huge MISTAKE!

Here's why...

First of all, over-washing your face irritates the skin and makes the inflammation and redness more difficult to deal with. The protective layers of the skin will also be removed for this reason, and your skin will start shedding more frequently to compensate with the thin skin's surface.

THE RESULT? YOUR ACNE GETS WORSE!

So you will want to limit your face cleansing routine to less than 3 times a day, preferably 2 times per day.

Other than that, washing your face will not cure your acne. 99.99% of the cases, you will not be able to get rid of acne by just washing your face like crazy, or using  a top-of-the-line face cleanser.

This is for a few reasons:

  • The active ingredients of the cleanser will not be able to reach deep enough into your skin, where all the acne-forming actions happen.
  • Dirt and other compounds are not the major factor of acne. Acne is caused by many factors, and for this reason, it is a very complex skin disorder.
While washing your face is very important, it should not be made as a standalone treatment for the above reasons.

How to Wash Your Face:

I personally do not believe that using a great or expensive cleanser or face washing kit will help you clear your zits. The core factors are not dirt and compounds that find their way to land on your skin. What a proper cleansing routine will do for your skin are:
  • Prevent your acne condition from worsening. This is because the dirt and other compounds such as debris and makeup powders can clog your skin's pores and as a result cause your acne to worsen greatly.
  • Maintain your skin's hygiene.
  • Provide great moisturizing effect for your skin. (Well this depends on the type of cleanser you are using.)
Basically, if you are using a cleanser, you can only expect to clear up your zits a little bit, and not anymore. So before you shell out that $50 for an expensive cleanser, better think properly though.

  1. Choose a cleanser that suits your skintype. If your skin is oily, then use only a cleanser meant for oily skin. This should be easy to do.
  2. Wash your face using the cleanser according to the instructions on the label.
  3. Remember do not wash your face more than 3 times per day to prevent worsened acne condition, skin irritation, dryness and increased inflammation and redness.
  4. If you wear makeup, you will want to wash your face for two times to ensure complete makeup removal.
